Hello,
This is a reminder that today is the last day for feedback on the Provenance marking terms<https://docs.google.com/document/d/16sAiWOGTDonjze15XxpD_di-ZgFEIOxLhTsUMZ1zkHU/edit?usp=sharing> document from the RBMS Controlled Vocabularies Editorial Group, which is described in more detail in the message below. We know that there is a lot of information in the document, so we want to particularly draw your attention to the two terms that form the core of the set of proposals: the proposed revisions to the scope note for Annotations (bottom of p. 4) and the newly proposed scope note for Inscriptions (p. 5).
We welcome you to comment directly in the Google document, or, if you prefer, to email the CVEG co-editors at vocabularies at rbms.info<mailto:vocabularies at rbms.info>.
Thank you!
Best,
Sarah Hoover and Jenny Bradshaw

Subject: ["EXLIBRIS-L"] RBMS Controlled Vocabularies: Provenance markings terms feedback
Dear colleagues,
The RBMS Controlled Vocabularies Editorial Group (CVEG) invites you to share feedback on a set of proposals related to terms in the provenance markings section of the Controlled Vocabulary for Rare Materials Cataloging (CVRMC) and corresponding terms in the RBMS Relationship Designators.
The project includes proposals for changes and new scope notes for terms including Autographs, Inscriptions, Annotations, signer, inscriber, and annotator, among others. The goal is to bring consistency and clarity to these related terms, many of which do not have existing scope notes. Due to the significance of these terms for many in the rare materials community and the complex nature of the changes, we are seeking community feedback earlier in the process than when we post accepted terms and revisions on the CVEG blog for public comment.
The proposals and the background information on the issues that the proposals seek to resolve are available in this document: Provenance markings terms<https://docs.google.com/document/d/16sAiWOGTDonjze15XxpD_di-ZgFEIOxLhTsUMZ1zkHU/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.1ugqcw8nr2u9>. We are accepting feedback from October 20-November 7, 2025. We welcome you to comment directly in the Google document, or, if you prefer, to email the CVEG co-editors at vocabularies at rbms.info<mailto:vocabularies at rbms.info>.
We encourage you to share this invitation with others who may be interested in providing feedback.
Best,
Sarah Hoover and Jenny Bradshaw
