Hi Marie-Chantal,
I often include print type information in the $b when I am sure but, if I'm not sure, I just leave that out and include only whether it is in color or not. You can always add a 500 note giving more information.

Hi all!
I was wondering whether it would be considered erroneous to use a question mark in the MARC 300 field to indicate uncertainty about the printing technique of an art print. I've consulted both DCRM(G) and RDA, but unfortunately, I haven't found any instruction that explicitly allows this. However, there are cases where there is genuine doubt about the printing technique, and it would be convenient if there was a way to reflect that uncertainty in the description (like I have seen on museum labels).
I would be most interested in reading your thoughts on the matter.
Many thanks for your input :)
